0 Bali has new police chief

National Police chief Gen. Timur Pradopo has installed Insp. Gen. Arif Wachyunadi as Bali’s police chief to replace Insp. Gen. Budi Gunawan, who is to take up a post at police headquarters in Jakarta. General Pradopo stated that Bali was the barometer for security in Indonesia as it represented Indonesia in the international world. “Security in Bali is our top priority. The new police chief is expected to always be on high alert and is expected to be fully in charge of ensuring the safety of the Balinese people and visitors as well,” the general said. December and January are peak holiday season in Bali, while in May 2013 the island will hold a gubernatorial election. During the ceremony, Gen. Pradopo also installed Brig. Gen. Eddy Sumantri as Banten Police chief.
