0 Bali’s Prepares to Host the World

Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center Expands Bali Facility Aspiring to Become Indonesia’s Largest Convention Hall

Serving as the official venue for 19th ASEAN Summit in late 2011, the newly opened Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC) is busily tripling its 25,00 square meters of meeting space to 75,000 square meters to include a five-star hotel complex. Quoted in The Jakarta Post, Danny Budiharto, the president director of the BNDCC said: “We’re ready to support Bali, and Indonesia, to host the APEC Summit, which 21 heads of state will attend. We are building larger venues to accommodate 12,000 persons.”

Opened in September 2011, the first-phase of the BNDCC was fast-tracked and completed in just seven months, providing 19 meeting rooms, a 4,400 square meter convention hall that handles up to 5,000 people and a large parking are. Speaking at the topping-off ceremony for the BNDCC expasion, Budiharto justified the expansion saying: ??“Those facilities were insufficient for larger international events, so we expanded the venue to be able to accommodate 12,000 people by adding 21 meeting rooms, a parking lot for 150 vehicles and a five-star hotel with 100 rooms.”

He went on to say that, when completed, the BNDCC would be the largest convention center in Indonesia. In a departure from the Bali Tourism Development Corporation’s (Nusa Dua Complex) reputation as an enclave of five-star hotels, the holding company for the BNDCC (PT Dyandra Media International) is constructing a two-star 130-room property adjacent to the BNDCC. Dyandra Media International also operates or is in the process of constructing conference and convention centers in Surabaya (East Java), Medan (North Sumatra), Makassar (South Sulawesi) and Tangerang (Banten, West Java).
