After leaving the NasDem Party following internal conflict with party patron Surya Paloh, businessman and media mogul Hary Tanoesoedibjo intends to join the People’s Conscience Party (Hanura), a party official has said. “Hary Tanoesoedibjo will join our party after a series of thorough considerations. He will announce it to the public in the afternoon,” Hanura Party faction secretary Saleh Husin said as quoted by kompas.com on Sunday.
He believed that Hary’s arrival would contribute massively to the party’s momentum ahead of the 2014 general elections. He said dozens of ex NasDem Party activists would also follow Hary’s decision to join Hanura. Former NasDem Party secretary general Ahmad Rofiq confirmed that he would soon join the businessman in Hanura. “We have the same ideals, thus I will follow Hary’s example and join Hanura,” Ahmad said. Hanura was founded by former Indonesia military commander Gen. (ret) Wiranto. The party secured 3.7 percent of the vote with 3.9 million votes.(dic)
