Another incidence of sexual abuse occurred after a girl was repeatedly assaulted by a third party in an apparent case of sexual abuse. The 11-year-old died at Persahabatan Hospital in East Jakarta on Sunday after having been in a coma for several days due to suffering what appears to have been repeated sexual assaults. She was taken Persahabatan Hospital on Dec. 29, 2012.
According to the doctors, she suffered from severe injuries to her vagina and rectum, caused by forcefully inserting a blunt object, her death likely due to brain inflammation although it remains unclear whether the inflammation was caused by her injuries. The police have questioned 18 people, including her parents, school friends and neighbors. The investigation is still ongoing and the police must do their best to reveal who did this cruel thing to the child. Harsh punishment must be issued to the perpetrator if this is proved in court. Above all the law must be upheld.
