PT PDAM Tirta Manguntama, the state-owned
tap water company for Badung, is waiting for compensation from the
central government to cover damage to its water pipe network caused by
the ongoing development of the underpass at the Dewa Ruci intersection
in Kuta. I Nyoman Sukanada, temporary official in charge of PT PDAM,
said that the damage was valued at Rp 1 billion (US$104,297).
“The
company asked the regional administration to cover the damages, but it
[the administration] said it was the authority of the central
government,” Sukanada said. The construction of several major
infrastructure projects in Bali, such as the Dewa Ruci intersection and
the Nusa Dua-Kuta-Benoa toll road, is financed by the central
government, the provincial administration and Badung regional
administration.
