At least fifteen people were killed in Cianjur, West Java, after a container truck lost control and flipped on Jl. Bangbayang Saturday morning, police said. Driver Manan, 39, allegedly lost control of the truck when the vehicle’s brakes failed, West Java Police spokesman Martinus Sitompul said.
The truck drifted into the oncoming lane, colliding with a motorbike and a minivan before striking a roadside house and rolling several times. Sixteen people were killed in the 6:15 a.m. wreck and seven others were listed in critical condition at the Cianjur General Hospital. Police charged Manan, who was listed in critical condition on Saturday. He is a resident of Jombang, East Java, and was reportedly heading from Sukabumi to Cianjur.
