The Corruption Eradication Commission has sought to ban overseas travel for six people linked to a driving simulator procurement graft case. Dipta Anindita, Djoko Waaskito, Erick Maliangkay, Mudjihardjo, Wahyudi and Mulyadi are all facing a travel ban that could last six months for their alleged involvement in a graft-ridden project estimated to have caused state losses of up to Rp 100 billion ($10.3 million).
“Since Jan. 22, the KPK [Corruption Eradication Commission] has asked the Immigration Directorate General to ban [from traveling] six people related to the driving simulator case,” said KPK spokesman Johan Budi on Friday. The KPK previously asked the immigration office to place travel bans on three other people linked to the case — Budi Susanto, Brig. Gen. Didik Purnomo and Adj. Sr. Comr. Teddy Rusmawan.
Budi is the president director of Citra Mandiri Metalindo Abadi, the company that won the driving simulator procurement project tender. Didik is the former deputy director of the National Police’s Traffic Corps and the official in charge of the Rp 196.8 billion project. Teddy was the chairman of the driving simulator project committee. In addition to Didik and Budi, the KPK has named two other suspects in the scandal, including former Traffic Corps chief Insp. Gen. Djoko Susilo and Sukotjo Bambang, the director of Inovasi Teknologi Indonesia.
Djoko allegedly received a Rp 2 billion kickback to award the driving simulators contract to an unqualified company, acting as an intermediary while he served as head of the police’s traffic unit last year. Djoko’s 2012 arrest prompted a confrontation between the KPK and the National Police.
